What is Illustration?

One line of what I create is somewhat like illustration.

(It is not trendy, digital art, but rather old fasioned. 😅)

The Illustration means: "a picture or diagram that helps make something clear or attractive. "

It is a form of communication. In my case, it is a visual communication.

But since it is a form of communiation, it must be communicable to the viewers.

That means, it must be more approachiable than pure Fine Art.

Therefore, what I create do not have deep, dark, profound philosophy.
You don't need to tilt you head to the right, left, and again to the right then scratch your head to decipher what it is and, if possible, appreciate it.  😅

It is mainly narrative.

Thus, it is easy to tell what it is and its message.

And that is what illustration should be, most of the time.

I mainly paint secenery with cats or representation of simple, queit life.

I don't try to think hard but just paint.

It is as if my hand decides how I should paint.

So, sometimes I wonder how much of a benefit what I have studied in schools really offered me.

After all, I knew how to paint before the formal art education, which I never had until attending a college!😲

Art is very emotional, personal, and subconsious in a sense.

Technical aspect is somewhat logical but still not like the field of math.

It is not like science at all.

Contemporary fine art is oftern stressfull not just for the viewers but also for the createors.

But the illustration is less tressful and even enjoyable, at least for the painter, myself.

My illustrations reflect warmth, tranquility and quiet ambience, like this fireplace. 😅
A fireplace in my cozy living room.
